Bateleur Estate has come into being after local developers researched the development of a lifestyle estate for the active retirees. This resulted in the search for suitable land with ideal climatic and topographic conditions.
Nature was a further consideration. A landscape architect was appointed to design the estate in such a way that man, plant and animal can live together in a harmoniously environment.
The end result is a 200-hectare estate, with wide-open areas and dams – situated in one of the most breathtaking Lowveld landscapes where eagles soar freely and small game graze undisturbed. A whopping 60-hectare of the development will be left as green zones and the majority of the trees on the Estate are intact.
SAFETY & SECURITY
The Bateleur Estate will feature a sophisticated integrated high level security management system: a 1.8m high boundary wall on the perimeter with electric fencing and a gate alert system at the security control room - assuring residents of the highest level of security around the clock. Communication technology will link each unit directly with the security control room.
A temporary electric fence will be erected around each completed phase until completion of the project, where after it will be removed.
CLIMATE
Nelspruit is the largest town in Mpumalanga’s subtropical Lowveld. It is also the capital of the province. The city lies in the fertile valley of the Crocodile River, 330km east of Johannesburg. The area is well known for its excellent climate and beautiful surroundings, with mild minimum winter temperatures, hardly ever reaching less than 6ºC, which is of course ideal for outdoor living and activities.
At 950 metres above sea level, Bateleur Estate is situated 350 meters higher than the capital itself; therefore it is always about 3ºC cooler than in town. Since it is a summer rainfall area, very hot summer days are normally cooled down by thunderstorms.
