Devonvale Golf & Wine Estate, sometimes nicknamed “Heaven Vale”, is indeed a venue with far more beauty than what meets the eye. Every time I drive into the estate I feel a sense of pride and contentment, that this is my home, and truly South African.

The current owners bought Devonvale Golf & Wine Estate from the estate of the late Mr. Simeon Blumberg who had the original vision and passion for this versatile parcel of land. Mr Blumberg could see the future of this once country golf course and set in motion the plan for it to become the established golf estate that it is today.

THE ESTATE

The housing Estate’s first phase, left of the 1st fairway, consists of a total of 55 residential units. The design concept is village-style living, with great care taken with regard to internal design and privacy, while ensuring the best views possible.

The second phase, consisting of 25 units will be situated on the Simonsberg side of the Golf Course, and built in a U-shape around the entertainment area, swimming pool, boles and volleyball courts. A homeowners association has been formed to which all the homeowners belong. Levies are charged to cover common expenses, but owners and residents will not be responsible for the maintenance of the golf course.

Homeowners will automatically be entitled to membership of the club, as entrance fees are included in the purchase price of the houses. Annual subscriptions are payable.

GOLF

The magnificent 18-hole championship golf course needs little introduction offering a regular challenge to both local and international golfers. The course is interesting every time you play it, with abundant bird life all around the fairways and water features.

The original layout, designed by Ken Elkin, who designed many of the Capes better known courses, has seen several improvements of late. The introduction of indigenous plants and the removal of alien trees have not only beautified the environment, but have created panoramic vistas of the surrounding vineyards and mountains. Playing here early before the field must rate as the most peaceful golfing experience possible, which residents will have on their doorsteps.
