Recession or not, a number of aviation estates (sort of like the bastard children of golf estates and airports), are in various stages of development around the country.

And though some developers are reporting sales slower than they’d like, private aircraft owners do seem committed to getting closer to their planes. “Right now you are probably paying R1,500 to R2,000 a month for a hangar,” says Graham Cooper, whose estate agency is the marketing partner for the proposed Malmesbury Aviation Estate, about 10km from Malmesbury in the Western Cape. “If you have one stand you pay once and you also don’t have problems like engines being stolen on the outfields or fuel being siphoned off.” The Malmesbury development will be the biggest of its kind in the country, with 227 stands linked to the private runway. For about R1.25-million each stand owner will be able to get out of bed, walk through to the garage, get in a plane and taxi off.

Botswana: An African Jewel and An Investment Gem   Mail Print PDF Botswana: An African Jewel and An Investment Gem
The economy of Botswana can be considered a diamond in the rough when examined against all other African economies - and what's more, Botswana is a stand-alone investment success story of a nation in global terms

Not only is the nation politically and economically stable, Botswana also enjoys the highest sovereign credit rating on the continent of Africa, it is a middle income nation with a strong GDP growth rate in the region of at least 4.7% annually, it has been one of the fastest growing nations in the world over the last 25 years, and as the least corrupt country in Africa it is rapidly increasing in interest among the foreign investor community.
